In August 2013 my partner and I went to Africa for a family holiday.

We travelled from Johannesburg on the Shongalolo Express train through Swaziland, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Zambia.

During the trip we were taken to Saweto, which is a township in Johannesberg were people (Humanbeings) don't have running water, nor working toilets. The drains in the middle of the walk way work as the public toilets and are flushed out daily. The people wash there cloths at the communal water tap which services about 15 - 20 homes.

In this township we were taken to one of the orphanages that takes children in on a daily basis, due to the family passing away or many other reasons. Bob the gentleman who runs this home feeds them and cares for them day to day. It also works as a school for the local children and teaches them to read and write which they would not learn as they could not go to school without this. Bob, the gentleman who runs this works on a donation system, from people who visit the orphanage. When we went through, I watched what people gave and I know that everyone financial needs are different, but when you could only hear coins go in, this hit my heart so much. We personally donated $150, this was not tax deductible. It was a gift to help the children, and to help Bob help the children.

We would like to donate a yearly figure to Bob of between $2000 to $3000 which in our heads is not a lot of money. If we could get $5 from each person who visits our page then we would have this yearly figure and be able to make a huge difference to the children of Soweto.

The second cause is:

The train ended at Victoria Falls and on our final day I met a young guy named Alfred.

Alfred is 33 years old. His father passed away when he was 3-4 and his mother passed away when he was 16 from health issues. Alfred and his brother had to raise themselves. Luckily Alfred comes from a more well to do family and he was left a home to live in. When we say a home it is a small block of land which has fences and the house is made from compacted dirt with a tin roof. No aircon, roof leeks from year to year, the floors are also compacted dirt, and are swept daily.

On our return to Perth we did a clothing donation drive though our small family company, and we were given 1000's of cloths for all ages. We then did some research of the cost of getting these cloths over to Alfred so that he could help the people in his township. We have been given 3 quotes ranging from $2500 to $3600 to have a 60kg box sent to Alfred for collection. Currently we have approx 3 boxes to get over to him. He will then distribute the cloths to the people who need them the most.

We saw children running around the streets with cloths that you wouldn't even let your enemy wear. These kids don't ask for anything, they get so excited when you give them a lollipop.

We are aiming to get these 3 boxes of clothing over to Alfred by the end of the year 2014, with your help. I am not a person that likes to beg, but I am begging for each person who reads this to donate even just $1 or $2 and we will get to our goal very soon.

Photo's will be uploaded on a regular basis I am just currently waiting for some up to date ones from both Khosi and Alfred.

With your help we can make a small change to a huge problem. If you have read this far then you are interested and want to help. My paypal account is jaissen@gmail.com I can be contacted via email if you wish to speak to me I will give you my number to call if you would like more information about this cause.

I can personally guarantee that every cent that is raised will be given to the above people, we will not be keeping any of this money.
